You can choose from preset modes like Do Not Disturb, Personal, Work, or create your own custom modes. You can also sync your focus modes across your Apple devices and share them with your contacts.
  3. Live Text: iOS 17 can recognize text in photos and let you copy, paste, translate, or look up information from it. You can also use Live Text to scan QR codes, business cards, receipts, and more. Live Text works on device and supports seven languages: English, Chinese, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, and Spanish.
  4. Safari redesign: iOS 17 gives Safari a new look and feel with a compact tab bar that moves to the bottom of the screen and adapts to the color of the website. You can also swipe on the tab bar to switch between tabs or access the tab overview. Safari also supports web extensions on iOS for the first time, allowing you to add functionality from third-party developers.
  5. Privacy enhancements: iOS 17 adds more privacy features to protect your data and give you more control over how apps access it. For example, you can see how often apps access your location, photos, camera, microphone, and contacts in the last seven days. You can also prevent apps from tracking your email activity with Mail Privacy Protection and hide your IP address from trackers with Private Relay (available with iCloud+ subscription).
  6. Widgets and App Library: iOS 17 expands the use of widgets and App Library on iPad. You can now place widgets anywhere on the home screen and choose from larger widget sizes. You can also access the App Library from the dock or by swiping left on the last page of the home screen. The App Library automatically organizes your apps into categories and lets you hide pages of apps that you don't use often.

If you have an older model, such as the iPhone 7 series or the iPhone SE (1st generation), you will not be able to update to iOS 17. You can still use your device with iOS 16 or lower, but you will miss out on some of the new features and security updates. You may also experience slower performance and reduced battery life over time.
